Trini Words!

During our marathon chat session over the carnival weekend, I was amused at some Trini words that I had not heard in years. Today I invite you to post your favorite word, it's meaning and usage.

  1. My favorite Trini word is "macco".Someone refered to as ah macco is notoriously inquisite, nosey,or farse. This word is also used affectionately.
    "What about yuh bredda boy?"
    "Who dat macco!"
I believe it is of French (patois)origin.

  2. This one is funny. I've heard people called makafouchet(spelling). Didn't know about origin though.

Makaforshet: left overs; from the French phrase "ma ca fourchette" meaning "food stuck between the fork" or by implication, food that lives on.
